Babcock's Death Stare is the product of the effort put forth by a college student in Michigan who responds to the name Kyle. After many, many failed attempts to find a creative outlet for the hockey-related thoughts that torture him throughout the day, Kyle managed to run a blog for the majority of two years titled WTF Holland (for the way people treated the guy between Cup wins as if he didn't know what he was doing, but most of that has subsided now) which produced many term paper length analyses in lieu of the author writing actual term papers. That blog boasts a following tipping the scales around a half-dozen, all of whom are usually more correct about things than Kyle.

Babcock's Death Stare, like its predecessor, is a Wings-centric blog that pays additional detail to prospects -- the Wings of tomorrow. Ever since he became a fan in 1994-95, but amping up in 2001, Kyle has found the NHL Entry Draft to be one of the most fascinating things in the entire world.  This has led to Kyle very closely monitoring the progress of the players that Detroit drafts in particular, but also keeping tabs on future drafts. The ultimate goal will be to have heard of each player Detroit drafts before they do so, something he was a Julien Cayer and Jesper Samuelsson away from doing in 2008. All of this does take up a great bit of free time, so Kyle hopes that this blog sustains others who might be interested in this subject, but might have things like "careers" and "family" that bite into time that could be spent scouring the interwebs for information on Detroit's most obscure prospects.

Kyle truly enjoys writing, and writing about hockey in particular. While this blog will often not carry things like basic journalistic integrity or much of a whiff of professionalism, Kyle hopes to one day work with hockey in a facet he has yet to establish. Whether or not the blog helps with that remains to be seen, but if nothing else it is a wonderful creative outlet and one more voice in the ever expanding and always interesting hockey blogging universe. Kyle also covers Anaheim Ducks' prospects for Hockey's Future. He's also recently joined the team at Winging it in Motown, running a weekly prospects update called "Friday Prospects."

This site is in no way affilliated with any real reputable organizations, especially including the Detroit Red Wings, the National Hockey League, or Mike Babcock and the way in which he stares into your soul.
